FREE DOWNLOADABLE BOOKS OFFER RESPITE FOR COVID-19 BLUES
(Washington, DC. April 16, 2020) If you’re quarantined at home with the kids as a result of COVID-19, you might want to download a free .pdf, Come In, Come In. This chapbook features poems designed to provide respite from the COVID-19 blues.
Alan H. Jordan, the author of over 20 other books, wrote this chapbook to address a problem explained by Tory Newmyer and Brent D. Griffiths, of the Washington Post. In an article published on April 16, 2020, they warned that readings from every corner of the economy Wednesday delivered a dose of grim reality. (Link to article.)
According to Jordan, “I’m trying to counter the grimness of the situation for many people who can’t go out and buy books now. They can download this book in a minute or two.”
The free book is Jordan’s way of helping children and adults exercise their creativity. Jordan claims it also helps parents and children bond. It’s a great Rx when you’re weary from watching TV.
Come In, Come In features black-and-white poems for young children to color. It also contains poetry Jordan wrote for artists to illustrate. Says Jordan, “The act of illustration takes the mind on vacation.” Poetry has long been a respite for overload.
The download is free and is one of two books that Jordan has put up for free download. The other is The Poetry of Vehicles. It features poems written to photographs taken by Jordan.
